View Article  Energizing?

Last week, hundreds of liberal bloggers descended upon Austin, Texas for the Netroots Nation convention. The convention, formerly known as Yearly Kos, can be described as the premier gathering of the most liberal fringes of American politics.

And who was there to party with America’s liberal bloggers? The Bruce Lunsford campaign, of course. Lunsford even purchased a gift for each of the bloggers in attendance.

In a blog post today, the Lunsford campaign describes the liberal convention as “energizing.”

It seems those in attendance felt exactly the same way. In an official Netroots Nation video (watch below), one blogger also used the word “energizing” to describe his experience.

Energizing is an ironic word choice, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi used the convention to reassure environmentalists that she would prevent a vote on expanded domestic energy production. We aren’t sure what’s energizing about allowing gas prices to continue to rise.

The Lunsford campaign’s trip to Netroots Nation follows their decision to reach out to the Daily Kos wing of the Democrat party. Lunsford now has a diary on Daily Kos, where he posted his first entry last week.

Even John Kerry delinked Daily Kos from his campaign website because of “unacceptable statements” on the blog. Kerry’s decision to delink the site followed Daily Kos blog posts celebrating the deaths of American soldiers in Fallujah.

View Article  Irrational Opposition to Energy Development

Yet another editorial about Congressional Democrats refusing to lift their ban on expanded domestic engergy exploration. From the Pueblo Chieftain.

President Bush was right to lift an executive ban on offshore oil drilling, and it's time for Congress to follow suit.

In these days of $4-plus per gallon gasoline, the American people eventually will demand that leaders of the Democratic-controlled Congress drop their opposition to increased energy exploration in the United States.

...

The real stumbling block is the Democratic leadership. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada so far have displayed a mindless adherence to hardcore environmentalists' irrational opposition to energy development.

If China and Venezuela can drill off our shores, why not the United States? Further, drilling would have a negligible impact on Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. To assert otherwise is irrational.

Ironically, the executive drilling ban dates back to 1990 and the administration of the current president's father, George Herbert Walker Bush. Times change and demand new leadership.

Conditions today demand a comprehensive energy plan that, in addition to renewable sources and conservation, includes drilling for more oil and gas. American consumers deserve no less.
