Smashes quarterly record for fundraising in Kentucky
Has raised over $15 million for the cycle; more than $9 million Cash-on-Hand

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell’s reelection campaign will report raising more than $3 million during the second quarter of 2008, a record for any federal candidate in Kentucky political history.  The campaign will file its report with the Federal Election Commission on July 15.

“I am humbled by the outpouring of support from Kentuckians and people across the country,” Senator McConnell said.  “I plan to run a vigorous campaign and we will have the resources to deliver a convincing message to Kentuckians this fall.”

On May 15, the McConnell Senate Committee reported raising over $850-thousand during April.  During May and June, McConnell raised over $2.16 million for a second quarter total surpassing three million dollars.

“Bruce Lunsford and his allies like the Sierra Club, Americans United for Change, and other liberal organizations are already running a negative campaign devoid of any positive agenda for Kentucky,” said McConnell Campaign Manager Justin Brasell.  “We will have the resources we need to get our message out, and we won’t be shy about responding to Lunsford and his liberal friends’ false attacks.

“Kentuckians are looking for a real leader with real answers.  In this campaign, there’s no question that leader is Mitch McConnell,” Brasell said.
