The Senate is voting on historic legislation; Kentuckians deserve to know his positions.
It has been two weeks since Senator Mitch McConnell challenged candidate Bruce Lunsford to take a position on the largest budget ever considered in Congress, and it has been two days since the McConnell campaign asked Lunsford where he stands on the climate tax legislation currently being debated in the U.S. Senate.
This morning the Senate voted on the budget blueprint put forward by Washington Democrats. The vote is so important that Presidential nominee Barack Obama returned to Washington solely to cast his vote on the measure. Surely Mr. Lunsford can let Kentuckians know if he agrees with his party’s nominee and the Democratic caucus he longs to join in supporting this spending plan.
Additionally, the Senate will continue to debate so-called Climate Change legislation. Democratic Leader Harry Reid, who personally recruited Bruce Lunsford into this Senate race, stated yesterday that the climate tax legislation addresses “the most important issue facing the world today.” Yet, Bruce Lunsford has taken no position on the bill.
The League of Conservation Voters issued a press release yesterday attacking Senator McConnell for voting against cloture on the bill and asked, “What are you afraid of?” Much to the consternation of out of state liberal interest groups, Senator McConnell has made his position clear.
But where is Bruce Lunsford’s answer? What are you afraid of, Mr. Lunsford? When will you take a position on an issue in this campaign?
McConnell campaign representative Justin Brasell asked, “Is Mr. Lunsford still running for U.S. Senate? Has anyone seen or heard from him recently? Does anyone have his number in Chicago or Arizona?”
