Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, only the second Kentuckian in history to serve as his party’s leader in the U.S. Senate, has launched four new television commercials supporting his 2008 re-election effort.  The ads are on the air now in Bowling Green, Hopkinsville, Owensboro, and Paducah.

McConnell campaign advisor Justin Brasell noted, “Senator McConnell has promised to run a razor-sharp, aggressive campaign.  That effort continues with our latest TV ads.”

The ads focus on regional priorities important to local Kentucky communities.  The Paducah version focuses on Senator McConnell’s work to fund environmental cleanup and health care for workers at Paducah’s gaseous diffusion plant along with his efforts to spur economic development.  Ads in the other markets feature the tobacco buyout that Senator McConnell pushed through Congress as well as the more than $50 million Senator McConnell has secured for Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green and the $50 million he has obtained for economic development in Owensboro.  Additionally the Hopkinsville ad features veteran Robbie Doughty and discusses Senator McConnell’s work for veterans and strengthening our military.

“We have started our campaign early, and we will continue to work night and day through Election Day to communicate all that we have accomplished and our vision for Kentucky’s future to voters,” said Senator McConnell.

View Article  NEW VIDEO: Top DC analyst says Sen. McConnell will be "really hard to beat"

Jennifer Duffy, a Senior Editor and Analyst for the Cook Political Report made the following comments at American University. You can watch the video below.

[Democrats] have been working for months to put Kentucky in play. Now, Kentucky as a state -- that makes sense to me. McConnell as their target makes a lot less sense to me. He's got $10 million in the bank. He is as good a strategist as I have ever met -- I used to joke if I ever ran for office I would want him to be my campaign manager. He's just going to be really hard to beat, and pretty much everybody Democrats have approached to run against him has taken a good, hard look and walked away...
