Malia Rulon of the Enquirer reports the following:

In Kentucky, Sen. Mitch McConnell released a poll showing him with a double-digit lead over potential rivals for his re-election to the U.S. Senate. According to the poll, the Louisville Republican would beat Attorney General Greg Stumbo, who was considered McConnell's most serious challenger until Stumbo dropped out, by 10 points.

He would beat the other possible contenders by at least 15 points, including Bruce Lunsford, who ran in the 2007 gubernatorial primary; Charlie Owen, the 2003 Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor; Greg Fischer, a wealthy businessman; and Andrew Horne, an Iraq veteran and 2006 House candidate.

The poll also shows 61 percent of respondents approve of the job McConnell is doing and 29 percent disapprove.

The survey included 600 likely voters and was conducted Jan. 6-8 by Voter/Consumer Research. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
