After a long day of negotiations the Senate moved last night to pass the McConnell-Bond bill which amends the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to give the agencies who protect us against terrorism the tools they need to do their jobs.  My bill passed 60-28 and demonstrates that when the Senate wants to act in a bipartisan spirit – as it must on matters of security and protecting the homeland – it can do so.  Here is an AP summary of the day’s deliberations and Hugh Hewitt’s take on the important next steps.
