Florence Mayor Diane Whalen presents Senator Mitch McConnell with a Florence Y'all water tower bobble head on Monday.

Yesterday Senator McConnell spoke at Florence Rotary Club in Northern Kentucky before visiting Northern Kentucky UniversityThe Kentucky Enquirer ran stories today on both the Rotary speech and the NKU visit.

One story focuses largely on Senator McConnell's reelection campaign which is already underway with the Enquirer's Pat Crowley quoting Senator McConnell saying, "We are going to run the best Senate campaign in America.  We're going to use all the modern technology in the most advanced way."  The Senator was referencing his TeamMitch.com campaign web site and his recently unveiled KentuckyHeroes.com site that will feature Kentuckians who have worked to make our Commonwealth a better place to live, work and raise a family.

The other article is on NKU's laser projection planetarium, the only one in the nation that is housed on a college campus.  Senator McConnell secured $2.7 million in federal funding for the project -- just one more example of his many efforts to improve math and science education and to ensure that our Kentucky universities have the resources they need to excel.
