Senator McConnell addressing a packed-room
at the Maysville Rotary Club Luncheon

Speaking before a packed-room of community leaders, Senator McConnell shared with the Maysville Rotary Club his perspective on what it is like to be the U.S. Senate Republican Leader.  With a warm smile, the Senator described his role as being very similar to that of a choir director.   “By some mysterious process, you have been asked to lead this group of people, some of whom are always singing off key.”  The challenge is trying to turn this noise “into harmonious music,” McConnell said jokingly.

Senator McConnell also fielded questions from the audience on a range of issues, from the ongoing war against terrorism to his perspective on the 2008 presidential race.  He also shared his hope that the Majority in Congress will take up and pass an important farm bill.  Senator McConnell’s message, and history of support of Mason County, was well received by this energized crowd.
