Senator Mitch McConnell addresses the Morehead Chamber of Commerce.
Senator McConnell received standing ovations from crowds in Mt. Sterling and Morehead, Kentucky yesterday. As a Mt. Sterling native, I can tell you that Senator McConnell has been very effective at helping local communities throughout the gateway area during his years in the U.S. Senate.
Senator McConnell began by touring the Gateway Regional Center for the Arts (GRCA) in Mt. Sterling. Mayor Gary Williamson and GRCA Executive Director Cay Lane showed the Senator the renovations underway on a historic church building, which will soon house a performing arts center in the heart of Montgomery County. Senator McConnell secured $250,000 for the restoration.
At lunch, Senator McConnell discussed a range of issues with members of the Morehead Chamber of Commerce. Senator McConnell answered questions regarding the future of Iraq, the durable state of the economy, and his hopes for meaningful H2-A reform.
Later, Senator McConnell congratulated the 2007 Leadership Kentucky graduates from all over the Commonwealth who had gathered on the campus of Morehead State University. Senator McConnell discussed his perspective on leadership and shared some of the lessons he’s learned from the many leadership positions he has been fortunate enough to hold.
