This morning I delivered remarks on the floor of the Senate remembering the brutal Beirut bombing of 24 years ago today, in which 241 U.S. Marines, sailors and soldiers lost their lives.
In particular, I noted the following five sons of Kentucky we lost that day:
Private First Class Sidney James Decker, U.S. Marine Corps, of Clarkson
Lance Corporal Virgil D. Hamilton, U.S. Marine Corps, of McDowell
Hospital Corpsman Third Class Robert S. Holland, U.S. Navy, of Gilbertsville
Sergeant Thomas C. Keown, U.S. Marine Corps, of Louisville, and
Sergeant Daniel S. Kluck, U.S. Army, of Owensboro
My entire remarks are posted on the Human Events website. I encourage you to take a moment to read them and remember the brave men and women who make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms and safety.
